Public invited to join Democratic candidate to watch Obama speech in Bridgeport on Thursday night
BRIDGEPORT, CT - This Thursday night, Democratic Candidate for Congress Jim Himes will host a party in Bridgeport to watch Barack Obama's historic acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention. The event is open to the public.
The Convention Watch Party will take place on Thursday, August 28th at Bass Hall at Mt. Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank St., Bridgeport, CT, 06604. The party is free, and dinner will be provided. Attendees are welcome to bring the entire family. To RSVP, call 203-332-6100, or RSVP online at himesforcongress.com/obamaspeech.
"Thursday will be a historic night, and there's no way I'd rather spend it than with families in my district who are just as excited as I am about changing our country this November," said Himes. "From the top of the ticket on down, this election boils down to one simple choice: the change we need versus more of the same offered by Chris Shays and John McCain."
Obama spokesman Bill Burton reiterated Barack Obama's support for Jim Himes just last week. "In this race, the good people of Connecticut should know that Barack Obama supports Jim Himes and believes Himes is the candidate who will bring the change American families need to Washington," said Burton.
