2022 Democracy Summer Fellowship Program

Once again, my campaign is a partner in the 2022 National Democracy Summer School. This is an important project my friend and Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin created to train and educate college and high school-aged students as political activists, organizers, and leaders.

As part of this initiative, I am looking for three dedicated high school and college students to join me as Himes for Congress Fellows. Summer fellows will participate in an exciting online seminar and curriculum focused on the history of social and political change in America and the progress of political democracy while simultaneously training as organizers and volunteer activists with my reelection campaign here in Connecticut.

Fellows in this virtual program have learned from political leaders like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Rep. John Lewis, along with top Democratic activists, policy experts, and community organizers across the country.

Our Democracy Summer Fellows will gain practical experience and training in key areas:

·      Field Organizing

·      Door-to-door canvassing

·      Phone banking

·      Text banking

·      Policy development

·      Campaign messaging

·      Social media and digital strategy

·      Campaign management

If you know a high school or college-aged student interested in politics, please click here for more information and an application.

Democracy Summer enables even more young people to get involved and is a direct investment in the success of Democratic campaigns and candidates across the country. Training the next generation of Democratic organizers and leaders has never been more important.
