Common Sense Gun Safety
Every day, 100 Americans are killed by guns and hundreds more are shot and injured. The effects of gun violence extend far beyond casualties, shaping the lives of millions of Americans. Inaction is unacceptable.
Jim was proud to co-sponsor and help pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, which would have finally implemented the universal background checks we desperately need. Although Mitch McConnell and the NRA blocked the bill in the Senate, he will continue fighting in the House of Representatives until this crucial legislation is passed into law.
Other measures Jim fully supports and will continue to support include no fly no buy, banning assault weapons, fully funding the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, better mental health screening before gun purchases and limited magazine sizes.
For too long Americans have lived in fear of gun violence. For too long Americans have lost their lives due to ineffective gun laws. Enough is enough: It’s time for change.
