Women's Issues

Reproductive Freedom

In 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, taking away federal protections for a woman’s right to choose. Since then, dozens of states have implemented near, if not full, abortion bans.

Jim knows a woman’s right to choose is paramount. He’s stood against Republican attempts to defund family planning and community health centers, and he opposed multiple efforts to ban abortion at the federal level. He’ll continue fighting against these attacks and working to enshrine the right to an abortion for every woman in our country.

Equal Pay

Our society and our economy demand so much of women, yet on average women make 80 cents for every dollar a man makes, and for women of color it’s 63 cents.

That’s not right.

While the wage gap is closing, it isn’t happening fast enough. Jim is committed to reversing this injustice — from one of his first votes in Congress for the Lily Ledbetter Act to his co-sponsoring of the Equal Pay Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act. And he’s not done fighting for true equality in the workplace.

Freedom from Abuse and Domestic Violence

Equal rights, equal pay, and reproductive freedom don’t mean much if a woman isn’t physically safe at home and in her relationship.

We must do more to protect women from violence and abuse. That’s why Jim proudly co-sponsored the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019, which provides key funding and support for organizations working to keep women safe from abuse.
