Two weeks after President Biden unveiled a set of proposals to close what the White House called a “racial wealth gap” in the United States, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes was named to lead a Congressional panel that will address earnings disparities across demographic groups and geographic pockets.
On Tuesday night, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi named Himes, D-Conn., to chair a new Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth, whose members include Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
